When Studio Seven Design set out to create Scarlett | Mornington, the vision was clear: a home that felt established, welcoming and enduring.
Inspired by the timeless work of acclaimed architect Patrick Ahearn, the project draws on the character of classic American coastal and Cape Cod homes while embracing the relaxed lifestyle of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
Every element of the home was thoughtfully designed and meticulously built by Studio Seven Design, from the shingle detailing and natural stone to the light-filled interiors and carefully proportioned spaces.
The result is a residence that balances timeless architecture with practical family living, earning recognition in the August edition of Australian House & Garden.

A Home Inspired by Timeless Architecture
Rather than following short-lived design trends, Scarlett takes its cues from architecture that has stood the test of time.
Studio Seven Design looked to the work of Patrick Ahearn, whose homes are recognised for their sense of balance, proportion and connection to their surroundings.
That influence can be seen throughout the project, where classic architectural forms are paired with natural materials and contemporary family living.
Shingle cladding, natural stone, generous glazing and carefully proportioned interiors create a home that feels both refined and welcoming.

The kitchen balances traditional craftsmanship with modern family functionality.
Natural stone surfaces, bespoke joinery, a concealed pantry and a statement French La Cornue oven combine to create a space inspired by classic Cape Cod homes while remaining highly practical for everyday use.
Dining Room
The dining space reflects the home’s overall design philosophy, combining timeless architecture with custom joinery and warm natural materials.
The result is an elegant yet comfortable setting designed to serve family life for decades to come.
Laundry & Mudroom
A hardworking utility space receives the same level of attention as the home’s main living areas.
Warm oak joinery, handmade-look checkerboard stone flooring, a generous farmhouse sink and custom storage create a functional space with lasting visual appeal, while the integrated mudroom bench provides an organised place for everyday family life.
Main Bedroom
Designed to embrace the surrounding garden and pool, the main suite combines timeless detailing with relaxed comfort.
A custom window seat, soft earthy palette and carefully selected materials create a space intended to feel calm, refined and restorative.
Children’s Bathroom
Created for the family’s three daughters, the bathroom pairs soft tones with natural textures to create a space designed for everyday rituals while allowing lasting memories to be made as the family grows.
