Designed by Lathika Nair of Lathika Nair Design, “The Study Nook” is much more than a display it’s an invitation. An invitation to envision spaces that merge comfort with craftsmanship, calm with charm, and style with substance.

Who Lathika Nair Is

For over two decades, Lathika Nair has woven architecture, design, art, and lived experience into deeply personal interiors. Originally trained with a Bachelor of Architecture with honours in India, her journey spans continents from bustling cities in India and the Middle East to her current home and design studio in Melbourne. She brings not just skill, but a global sensibility: versatility, warmth, and an eye for what makes a room truly serve its people.

When you work with Lathika, you get more than great design: you get a designer who believes in transformation spaces that go beyond the visual, that improve how you live every single day. Her clients describe her style simply: “Casual Charm” with impact. Lathika understands that elegance doesn’t need pretence; it needs honesty, good material, and careful selections.

Her Design Style: What Makes It Unique

“Casual Charm” is more than a label it is a way of approaching every project. Here are some pillars of her approach:

  • Personalised living: Each design starts with listening to your routines, your imagery, your colours, your needs for storage, your family life. Lathika crafts spaces that feel like they were built just for you.
  • Elegant practicality: Beauty matters, but not at the cost of liveability. Her designs in rooms like kitchens, studies, and renos show solutions for how things work. Storage, light and flow is always top of mind.
  • Warmth & material richness: Wood tones, textures, calm colours balanced with expressive details. Lathika’s study of materiality gives her interiors a depth that feels lived in.
  • Architectural foundation: Her background in architecture shines in the clarity of structure, in mouldings, in trim, in how spaces are framed. Her projects show clean design, good proportions, and attention to detail.

The “The Study Nook” Showcase — Why Room 35 Is Something to See

Room 35, “The Study Nook”, is Lathika’s interpretation of what a workspace should be: functional, calming, beautiful.

Here is what makes it special:

  • It is designed to feel personal and inspiring not like a sterile office. Imagine built-in cabinetry with gentle mouldings, shelves that frame daylight, trims that delineate without dominating.
  • The materials and finishes are chosen not only for their look but for how they perform: how they respond to light, wear, and the everyday moments of desk work and reflection.
  • Doors, architraves, skirtings from AMDC are integrated as key parts of the aesthetic. It shows how mouldings and doors are not afterthoughts, they set tone, proportion, and character.
  • The space reflects “Casual Charm”: design that supports focus but also features that feel crafted and elevated but still warm and approachable.
